CHIMES Society is one-of-a-kind international partnership that represents an innovative academic collaboration with the objective to establish new stroke treatments.
CHIMES is a Singaporean non profit society founded by a group of Key Opinion Leaders in stroke, South-East Asia regional experts and clinicians interested to implement a research project on NeuroAiD ( a traditional chinese medicine) Efficacy on Stroke recovery.
The objective of the current research is to evaluate the impact of NeuroAiD on stroke recovery when given within 48 hours after stroke onset as NeuroAiD has shown to be beneficial to stroke patient in late stage of stroke treatment (ie. 2 weeks to 6 months). The latter trial was conducted in China. This current research is conducted in compliance with Western clinical trial standard methodology and constitutes an innovation in bridging Eastern and Western medicine.
This trial has received a lot of media coverage as CHIMES Society was given a landmark grant in 2007 from Singapore National Medical Research Council which has allowed the trial to be initiated in various trial sites in Singapore. CHIMES trial is now recruiting in several hospitals in the South East Asia
CHIMES Society continues to seek further donations from industrial partners and individual donators to implement trial.
